Veteran Support
NVC Veteran Support provides current NVC students who are military members (current, former, & dependents) with information, resources, and advocacy to help them succeed in higher education.

The goal of our services is to provide our veteran students:
- Veteran-related activities and events
- Opportunities to connect with other Veterans through on-campus and off-campus engagement
- Faculty and Staff Advocates (fellow Veterans who are also available to provide campus information, resources, and additional support)
Resources for Veterans
Veteran Advocates (V2V)
Many veterans find the transition to college is filled with challenges and questions. The NVC Vet to Vet program is designed to help fellow veteran students succeed. The Vet to Vet advocates are here to support all student veterans and inform them about resources on campus and in the community. Veterans Center
The Veterans Center advises and assists student veterans on how to obtain federal and state benefits. Located in Desert Willow Welcome Center, Room DWWC-120. The Veterans Center also participates in veteran education programs provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Education Programs Include:
- Hazlewood Exemption
- Chapter 30 - Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty Educational Assistance Program
- Chapter 31 - Vocational Rehabilition Program
- Chapter 33 - Post 911 Veterans Educational Assistance Program
- Chapter 1606 and 1607 - Selected Reserve Educational Assistance Program
Counseling Services
The counseling services provides veteran students guides towards personal, social, and/or psychological matters such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and grief. The counseling services offer a wide range of professional counseling services with licensed professionals.
ADA Accommodations
ADA accommodations to students who have disabilities that interfere with their ability to succeed in the classroom. The Access office offers services to help level the playing field and create opportunities for success for students with disabilities.
Student Advocacy and Emergency Aid
Northwest Vista College recognizes that students struggling economically or with mental health issues may find college overwhelming at times. We know that stress can impact academic performance. Any student experiencing challenges is encouraged to reach out to the NVC Student Advocacy and Resource Center. The Advocacy Center provides emergency student aid, help with essential needs, and individual and group mental health counseling at no cost to students.
Vista Veterans Library
Provided to Veterans in the NVC Library in Room RLC-113 to enhance the Academic learning environment for study, research, and information needs. A space designated for use by Military members of the U.S. Air Force, Marines, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, Space Force, Air National Guard, Army National Guard, and all Reserve components. Use of the room is also extended to current Active Duty and Reserve status students.
Clubs and Orgs:
SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society
- Qualify as a military or veteran student
- Have served or currently be serving in the military, national guard, or reserves
- If no longer serving, have been honorably discharged from service
- Have a minimum GPA of a 3.0
- Be enrolled at NVC for Fall 2019
All Ranks Club
NVC All Ranks Club is a student organization that is open to all NVC students and employees who are active military, veterans, dependents, or would like to show their support for those who have served. This club aims to provide military and academic connections and support, social opportunities, and more!
